I had purchased the DC set with Batman, Joker, Batgirl, and Harley Quinn a while back and enjoyed it with friends. As soon as I’d noticed there was a Marvel set out, I had to get it right away. The Marvel set seems to be the most expensive among the Funkoverse set me available so far but I absolutely had to get it since I’m an even bigger Marvel fan.
This Marvel set features a new “Objectives” mechanic with extra figures you could add to your Scenario gameplay and mix with sets from other franchises like DC and Harry Potter if you wish. That’s what I love about Funkoverse. The ability to mix up the franchises.
The abilities of the Avengers characters here are all pretty simple and straight-forward which I feel would make this a great starting set for anyone who wants to try out Funkoverse for the first time. In fact, I feel that these are some of the more fun characters to play with from what I’ve seen so far. Each character has a more aggressive play-style due to their traits and abilities which forces you to get up close to your opponents and quickly get in on the action in-game.
I don’t believe this was stated on the product description here but I actually received the “Chase Edition” of this set which is even better because I got an exclusive variant of the Black Panther figurine which you could see in my photo here. This made the purchase even more worth it for me as it’s a nice touch to the figure with a nice glittery purple coating on Black Panther’s design.

CONS:
-Figures must have their team-colored base attached to the dark base they are originally glued to.
-Both sides of the map are almost identical, incredibly plain and don’t feel immersive with the Marvel Cinematic Universe theme
-There are no items included that can be attached to figures’ hands. Instead, two plastic objects are included that must be placed on certain locations on the 2 respective maps. Figures from either team must then find their way to those objects in order to interact with them.
-Gems are a basic red color. Other recent sets’ gems are glittered or have decals embedded.
-Captain America’s attached shield is more of a tortilla. That would’ve made an excellent item (missed opportunities).
PROS:
-New abilities are unique and thematic to most of the figures!
-Black Panther’s Vibranium tokens provide amazing results!
-Black Widow must be the most thematic of all Funkoverse figures!
-Iron Man hits like a truck.
-This version of Captain America is fully a support character (could be a CON to some players).
-Maps are incredibly simple and easy to move through for new, or young players.
-Items included are large, hefty pieces of plastic.
-4 different Game modes are quite simple.
